MINUTES OF THE SUNCOAST MASTERS & WARDENS ASSOCIATION MEETING


JANUARY 19, 2000
Clearwater Lodge 127 F.& A.M.
Dinner 7:00 p.m. Meeting 8:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 7:55 p.m. by President John Drewett with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was given by Tim Bryce of Sutherland Lodge.

President Drewett then proceeded with the regular order of business.

All members and guests were welcomed and the Brethren of Clearwater Lodge were thanked for providing the meeting place.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meetings minutes be accepted as printed and distributed, with minor corrections.

Treasurer's report: The ending balance from the previous meeting was $3,100.31. The current balance is $3,457.63 of which $246.16 is earmarked for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the Treasurer's report be accepted as read.

Old business:

The Hot Gavel is at Sutherland Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at Gulf Beach Lodge. W:. Bill Petrey gave a report on the Sitting Masters Degree which was held on November 20, 19999 at Pearl of the West Lodge. There was a total of 56 that attended, which netted $141.97 proceeds to this Association. Two Bay Pines communications were read regarding this Associations participation.

New business:

The following officers were installed for the current year:

W:. Bill Petrey - President-Elect
W:. Ralph Vaughan - Treasurer

The Installing Officer was R:.W:. Mike Beijar. W:. Jim Clouser thanked W:. John Drewett for his excellent job performed as this Association's President this past year. A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that this Association purchase a ½ page advertisement in the Scottish Rite FundRaiser Program. W:. Jim Clouser then presented his goals for the following year:

(1) The Junior Wardens Project - Chili cook-off fundraiser.
(2) Senior Wardens Project - to be determined at a later date.
(3) Worshipful Masters Project - Sitting Masters Degree.
(4) Organizing a fish fry for the benefit of the Masonic Home.
(5) Would like to have this Association meet at least once at the Masonic Home.
(6) Award at least one scholarship from this Association this year.
(7) Participate in the Bay Pines Christmas Party; and
(8) Have Masonic Education at each of our meetings.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be held on March 15th, 2000 at Gulf Beach Lodge. Dinner at 7:00 p.m. The meeting at 8:00 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

MINUTES OF THE SUNCOAST MASTERS & WARDENS ASSOCIATION MEETING


MARCH 15, 2000
Gulf Beach Lodge 291 F.& A.M.
Dinner 7:00 p.m. Meeting 8:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Jim Clouser with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was given by W:. Tom Cox of Gulf Beach Lodge.

President then proceeded with the regular order of business.

All members and guests were welcomed and the Brethren of Gulf Beach Lodge were thanked for providing the meeting place and dinner.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meetings minutes be accepted as printed and distributed with two minor correction, that the number attending the Masters Degree at Pearl of the West Lodge Number 146 be changed from 16 to 56, and a minor spelling correction.

Treasurer's report: The ending balance from the previous meeting (1/19/2000) was $3,457.63. The current balance (3/8/2000) is $4,625.52 of which $246.16 is earmarked for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the Treasurer's report be accepted as read.

Secretary's report: Roll call was taken with 30 Brethren present and 9 lodges represented.

Old Business:

The Hot Gavel is at Gulf Beach Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at Star Lodge.

The President appointed a three man Audit Committee consisting of W:. John Hartman of Sunshine Lodge No. 288, W:. Gerry Lee of Tarpon Lodge No. 112 and W:. Howard Knapp of Gulf Beach Lodge No. 291.

Discussion of the Masters Degree for this year was tabled until the next meeting in order for the representatives to discuss this with their respected Lodges.

The President announced that one of our meetings will be held at the Masonic Home. Further discussion of this will be forthcoming.

The President appointed S.W. Don Langworthy of Star Lodge, and S.W. Sam Lampson of Clearwater Lodge to handle the Scholarship fund for this year.

The Chili Cook-off will be directed by J.W. Brent Albright of Star Lodge.

New Business:

Due to personal reasons, Ron McMillan could not be installed as Secretary of the SunCoast Masters & Wardens Association for this year. He will be installed at the next meeting.

Motion was made, seconded and passed to have the same rules for both gavels. There must be seven visiting Brothers present to receive the gavel and of these seven, there must be two officers, one of which must be either the Master or an elected Warden. Motion made, seconded and passed that the instructions to be typed and installed on the Gavels.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be on May 17, 2000 at Tarpon Lodge No. 112. Dinner at 7:00 p.m.. The meeting at 8:00 p.m.

Dinner 7:00 p.m. Meeting 8:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Jim Clouser with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was given by R:.W:. Mike Beijar, P.D.D.G.M.

President Clouser then proceeded with the regular order of business.

All members and guests were welcomed and the Brethren of Tarpon Lodge were thanked for providing the meeting place and meal.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meetings minutes be accepted as printed and distributed.

Treasurer's report: The ending balance from the previous meeting was $4,625.52. The current balance is $3,103.72 of which $246.16 is reserved for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the Treasurer's report be accepted as read. The Treasurer mentioned that only 4 of the Lodges had paid the $50.00 for the 1999 Bay Pines Christmas Party. A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed this Association reimburse the DDGM's for their out of pocket expenses for the two Lodges who had not yet paid for the Grand Master's Official Visit. The Treasurer's Report was accepted as read.

Secretary's report: Roll call was taken with 31 Brethren present and 9 lodges represented.

Old Business:

The Hot Gavel is at Elmer O. Smith Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at Tampa Bay Lodge.

The Audit Committee presented their report, a copy of which is attached to the official minutes of this Association. The Audit Committee found the records to be in order and our Treasurer was thanked for the outstanding job he performed this past year.

The Sitting Masters Degree will be held at Tarpon Lodge on October 7, 2000. W:. Richard DiBasi is to chair this committee. The President announced that due to the lateness of the new Scholarship Committee being formed, a scholarship would not be awarded this year.

W:. Bill Petrey gave a report on the annual Fish Fry to be held at the Masonic Home on September 17, 2000 from 11 am to 2 pm. Each Lodge present was given a package. The price of the tickets will be $6.00.

New Business:

A letter was read from Red Russell, the Masonic Service Association Representative at Bay Pines Hospital. The Bay Pines Christmas Party will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at 1:30 pm, meeting in the J.C. Cobb Activity Room. A lengthy discussion was held about raising funds for the Junior Grand Warden's Homecoming should R:.W:. Carl Gilmore be elected at this Grand Communication.

The incoming District Deputy Grand Masters were introduced: W:. John Drewett-District 20 and W:. Tom Cox-District 21. The current DDGM R:.W:. George Benham was introduced. The following introductions were made: Past District Deputy Grand Masters: R:.W:. Carl Gilmore, R:.W:. Reed Rue, R:.W:. Mike Beijar, R:.W:. Ed Phero, and R:.W:. Ron McMillan. This Association;'s Past Presidents were introduced: R:.W:. Carl Gilmore, R:.W:. George Benham, W:. David Neveitt, W:. John Drewett, and R:.W:. Ron McMillan.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be on July 19, 2000 at the Masonic Home, with Northside Lodge providing the dinner. Dinner at 7:00 p.m.. The meeting at 8:00 p.m.

Northside Lodge 283 F.& A.M.
Dinner 7:00 p.m. Meeting at Masonic Home of Florida at 8:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Jim Clouser with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was given by W:. Donald Harriott, Chaplain of Gulf Beach Lodge No. 291 F.& A.M.

President Clouser then proceeded with the regular order of business.

All members and guests were welcomed and the Brethren of Northside Lodge were thanked for providing the dinner. The Staff of the Masonic Home were thanked for providing the meeting place. The kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then introduced. President Clouser welcomed and greeted the residents of the Masonic Home of Florida.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meetings minutes be accepted as printed and distributed.

Roll call was taken with 11 Lodges represented and 29 Brethren present.

Treasurer's report: The ending balance from the previous meeting was $3,103.72. The current balance is $3,078.17 of which $246.16 is reserved for our Scholarship Fund. It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the Treasurer's report be accepted as read.

Old Business:

The Hot Gavel is at Nitram Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at at Sutherland Lodge.

A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed to return the money that was collected for R:.W:. Carl Gilmore JGW's Homecoming Fund to those Lodges who had previously sent in money.

The Sitting Masters degree will be held on October 7, 2000 at Tarpon Lodge.

No report was given on the Chili Cook-Off.

No report was given on the Scholarship Committee, but President Clouser mentioned that this committee was in the process of setting up various fund raisers.

W:. Bill Petrey gave a report on the approaching Fish Fry to be held at the Masonic Home. Thirty-five tickets have been sent to the Worshipful Master of each Lodge.

New Business:

W:. Ralph Vaughan announced he would not desire to serve another year as Treasurer of this organization, as he has served many years in this capacity and would like someone else to take this position over for next year.

The following introductions were made: This Association's Past Masters:
R:.W:. John Drewett, R:.W:. Ron McMillan, R:.W:. Carl Gilmore.

Past District Deputy Grand Masters were then introduced:
R:.W:. Mike Beijar, R:.W:. Carl Gilmore, R:.W:. Reed Rue, and R:.W:. Ron McMillan.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be on September 20, 2000 at Sutherland Lodge. Dinner at 7:00 p.m.. The meeting at 8:00 p.m.

Sam Lampson was introduced as the District Instructor of District 20. R:.W:. John Drewett was introduced as District Deputy Grand Master of District 20 and R:.W:. Tom Cox was introduced as District Deputy Grand Master of District 21. Both DDGM's thanked those who attended the Grand Master's Official Visit to the 20th and 21st Districts and each introduced their respective Committeemen who were present.

Benediction was given by W:. Donald Harriott, Chaplain of Gulf Beach Lodge No. 291 F.& A.M. The meeting closed at 8:40pm.

Dinner 7:00 p.m. Meeting at 8:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by President Jim Clouser with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Invocation was given by W:. Alan Leverock, Chaplain of Sutherland Lodge 174 F.& A.M.

President Clouser then proceeded with the regular order of business.

All members and guests were welcomed and the Brethren of Sutherland Lodge were thanked for providing the dinner. The Staff of the Masonic Home were thanked for providing the meeting place. The kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then introduced.

It was regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meetings minutes be accepted as printed and distributed.

Roll call was taken with 11 Lodges represented and 27 Brethren present.

Treasurer's report: The ending balance from the previous meeting was $3,033.17. The current balance is $3,194.24 of which $246.16 is reserved for our Scholarship Fund. The Treasurer's report was delivered by President Jim Clouser, as our Treasurer, W:. Ralph Vaughan was unable to attend this evening's meeting due to previous commitments. The Treasurer's report was accepted as read.

Old Business:

The Hot Gavel is at Nitram Lodge. The Traveling Gavel is at at Sutherland Lodge.

The Scholarship Committee has sent a letter to all of the Lodges in the 20th and 21st Masonic Districts requesting that each Lodge hold various fund raisers for our Scholarship Fund. The Committee has also sent a letter to various Principals of the schools in the area announcing the Scholarship.

The Chili Cook-Off, which had originally been scheduled for October 22 has been rescheduled for a tentative date of January 21, 2001 due to the conflict with the SunCoast Masters & Wardens Fish Fry at the Masonic Home. At this time, only three Lodges have expressed an interest in participating in this event.

The Fish Fry, which was originally scheduled for September 16, 2000 has to be rescheduled to October 22, 2000 due to the hurricane warning/watch on September 16, 2000. Tickets for this event will not be reprinted.

The Sitting Masters Degree will be held on October 7, 2000 at Tarpon Lodge at 1:00pm. The practice for this degree will be held on October 5, 2000.

New Business:

Masonic Education was presented by Tim Bryce, Senior Deacon of Sutherland Lodge. The subject was the Corner Stone Ceremony.

A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed that Tim Bryce organize a softball tournament for the Lodges in the 20t and 21st Masonic Districts.

A motion was regularly made, seconded and passed to allow Tim Bryce to create a "Skills Page" which will be attached to the SunCoast Masters & Wardens web page. This page will offer various labor skills of Brethren within this area. Brother Tim Bryce also offered his services to any Lodge in this area to develop a Web Page, free of charge.

R:.W:. Jim Dickenson, Grand Marshal and candidate for Junior Grand Warden was introduced and gave a brief speech.

The next Masters & Wardens Meeting will be on November 15, 2000 at Gulf Beach Lodge. Dinner at 7:00 p.m.. The meeting at 8:00 p.m. The election of Officers for the ensuing year will be held at this meeting.
