Following
the Invocation given by W. Roger Webb, Dinner was served at 6:30 P.M.
President
Derryl O’Neal, P.M. called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag.
President
O’Neal proceeded with the regular order of business. All members and guests were welcomed.
There
were three first time visitors joining us. Visitors were from East Gate Lodge,
Dunedin Lodge, and St. Petersburg Lodge.
Worshipful
Bishop and Officers were introduced and thanked for providing the meeting
place. The J.W. and his kitchen help, who prepared our fine meal, were then
introduced and thanked with a round of applause.
Our
guest speaker was introduced. David Morgan, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at
the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute spoke about the work in
progress at the Institute and other facts about this debilitating disease.
After about a 15 minute message about Alzheimer’s and the research on
going at the USF Institute, he asked for and answered several questions from
the audience. His discussion was very informative and he was thanked with a
hearty round of applause. He invited anyone to come and visit the Institute. He thanked the Mason’s for
choosing the Byrd Institute
as our
Charity and for our generous donations.
President
O’Neal then proceeded with the regular order of business.
It was
regularly moved, seconded and passed that the previous meeting minutes be accepted
as printed and distributed.
Treasurer’s
Report: (R.W. David Henderson)
Beginning
balance: $ 10,307.15 Ending balance: $ 11,186.88 with $ 3000.00 reserved for
our Scholarship Fund. It was
regularly moved, seconded and passed that the Treasurer’s report be
accepted as read and distributed. Bills for postage for the G.I. Care
Packages totaling $ 322.65.
W. Bob
Matheson read
emails that he received from some of our servicemen overseas, thanking us for sending the care packages
and for remembering our men and women in the armed forces. W. Bob said he would
like for the program to continue next year. Bob said he sent twenty-seven
packages to our military personnel.

W.
Billy Garrett Jr. reported on the Masonic Home Employees Christmas Party. We
had approximately 40 children receive presents from Santa Claus, who arrived
again this year by Fire Engine from the St. Petersburg Fire Department. All had
a good time and enjoyed a fine meal by our Masonic Home Dietary Department.
Masonic Home office manager, Debbie Neveitt returned
over $ 400.00 to the Association from the purchase of the gifts for the
children.
Sickness
and Distress: There were no reports of any sickness or distress among the
Brethren or in our Fraternal family. Let’s keep
all distressed worthy brothers and their families in our thoughts and prayers.
There
were no communications to be read.
At
this point President O’Neal announced the irregularities in the election
of officers at the last meeting. There being no one opposed to the election as
it was, W. Bob Matheson made a motion to accept the election as it was,
seconded by R.W. John Hickey. The vote of the Craft was to accept the election
as held at the November meeting.
President
O’Neal made his closing statements about his year as President and
thanked all who assisted him and made his year a successful one. He was thanked
with a round of applause and standing ovation.
John
Anthony, President of the Widows and Sons Motorcycle Club, SunCoast
Chapter spoke and invited riders to join in on some of their rides. He will
keep us advised to the Clubs activities.
At
this time W. Billy Garrett Jr. Installed the new Officers for 2010. W. David Webster, President; and W. Tim
Long, Vice President. R.W. David Henderson and R.W. James Clouser
were re-elected as Treasurer and Secretary, respectively, and did not need to
be reinstalled. With the new Officers installed, President Webster proceeded
with business.
President
Webster announced his Committees and activities he has planned for this year.
Scholarship
Committee: Five Past Presidents; (Bryce, Henderson,
Matheson, Garrett Jr. and O’Neal)
Audit
Committee: Chairman: Mark Birenbaum, Tim Bryce, and Bob Matheson.
Trap
Shoot: Has been held for 10 years. Motion was made by W Bryce to donate all
money raised to the scholarship fund. Seconded by R.W.
Henderson. With approval from the Craft all money raised will be go to
the scholarship fund. To be held on April 10th at the Silver Dollar Trap Range.
Cost is $ 55.00 for three rounds of trap.

Committee
Reports:
Audit
Committee Chair W. Mark Birenbaum reported the committees’ findings
and suggested a new program be implemented for the procedure for receiving and
transferring Cash monies to the Secretary, then to be forwarded to
the
Treasurer. After much discussion as to this process, President Webster tabled the vote
on this process until the May meeting.

Ron Newton reported on the success of Pilgrimage Day and the pleasure of The
Grand Master on this occasion.
W. Tim
Bryce reported the Trap Shoot was rapidly approaching and the reservation
cut-off date would be April 1.
Vice
President W. Tim Long reported the Roast of the D.D.G.M.’s
for Districts 20 & 21 would be at the Chili’s on East Bay Drive on
April 30, at 7:00 P.M. Meal items will be from the menu. For more information, go to the

W.
Billy Garrett Jr. reported on the upcoming Golf Tournament which is open to all
golfers. More information will be reported at the next meeting.
W. Tim
Bryce said the Scholarship Committee had over 40 applications for the
scholarship award and the deadline for application was rapidly approaching.
W.
Billy Garrett Jr. & W. Tom Long will be having another Pool Tournament.
Proposed date is July 29.
No New
Business.

Chris Schlenker reports that he has a Unity Gavel in
District 20. He presents this gavel to the newest raised Master Mason of the
Lodge he is attending for his Official Visit. This Master Mason then must
attend Chris’ next official Visit so the Gavel may be passed to another
newly raised master Mason, thus promoting visitation between Lodges.

Danny Griffith is running for the Grand South at this Grand Lodge Session in
May.
Incoming
D.D.G.M.’s W. Bob Matheson, 20, and W Alan
Rosenthal, 21, announce that the Grand Masters’ Official Visit to the
Districts 20 & 21 will be on Friday night July 16, with registration at
5:00 P.M. and Dinner at 6:00 P.M.
at the
Masonic Home in St. Petersburg.

Committee
Reports:
Audit
Committee: President Webster offered record keeping sheets for our use as per
the Audit Committees’ recommendations. Both Secretary Clouser
and Treasurer Henderson now have receipt books for receiving, transferring, and
depositing cash monies, so a proper accounting of said cash monies can be tracked in the future.
Chairman
W. Mark Birenbaum recommended a treasurer’s
Deposit Sheet signed by both the Treasurer and Secretary for a deposit
accounting procedure.
W. Tim
Bryce reported the 10th Annual Trap Shoot was held on April 17th and raised $
828.00 for our Scholarship Fund. 36 shooters participated.
Vice
President W. Tim Long reported the Roast of the D.D.G.M.’s
for Districts 20 & 21 was held at the Chili’s on East Bay Drive on
April 30, at 7:00 P.M. Good Fellowship and Roast was enjoyed by all who
attended. The restaurant was pleased with our attendance and invited our
organization back again.
W.
Billy Garrett Jr. and W. Tim Long will be having another Pool Night on July
29th at 7:00 P.M. at The Crooked Cue behind Mug’s and Jug’s on 66th
Street. This event is open to all Masons or anyone interested in our
Fraternity.

W. Tim
Bryce said the Scholarship Committee reviewed 83 scholarship applications from
20 area High Schools. The winner is Miss Melissa Dohme
of Clearwater High School. W. Bryce will present the Scholarship and Plaque at
an Awards Ceremony next Wednesday Night, May 26, 2010 at 7:00 P.M., at Clearwater
High School. W. Bryce thanked all of his committee men who worked so diligently on
making this selection. The Committee consisted of:

Bryce, Chair; R.W. David Henderson; W. Derryl O’Neal; W.Bob
Matheson; President W. David Webster; and W. Billy Garrett, Jr. A round of
applause thanked the Committee for their work.
W.
Billy Garrett Jr. reported the Golf Tournament fundraiser will be at Airco Golf Course, on September 25, 2010. Open to all
single golfers and teams. Come out and support this fundraiser. Proceeds are
for The Masonic Home and our Scholarship Fund. One of the prizes will be a
round of Golf for a foursome at another local golf course. Contact W. Garrett,
Jr. to sponsor a hole for $ 50.00. For more information go to

More
upcoming events are: Fort Clinch Outdoor Degree on October 26, 2010, and the
annual Pistol Shoot at The Wyoming Antelope Club on Saturday November 6,
2010.
Under New Business.
Gulf
Beach Lodge was presented a Certificate and Plaque for offering and maintaining
the website at no cost to the association. A round of applause followed.
W.
Billy Garrett Jr. made a motion, which was seconded, to give an Honorary
Membership to R.W. J. Dick Martinez
(should he be elected Grand Master, and he is not already a
member ). The motion was passed unanimously.
W.
Billy Garrett Jr. made a motion to give the incoming D.D.G.M.’s
$ 3500.00 for expenses of the Grand Masters’ Official Visit to our District , which will be on July 16th, at The
Masonic Home. The Motion was seconded voted on, and passed. This money will be accounted for under
the previously established rules and to be returned to the Association when the
D.D.G.M.’s receive the money after assessing their
respective Lodges in their Districts.
Secretary
Clouser presented an invoice for the Scholarship
Award plaque from Metz Signs and Awards for $ 44.89
A
motion was made, seconded and passed to pay this invoice.
Worshipful
Master Earl Ray of St. Petersburg Lodge made a motion to donate $ 200.00 to the
Grotto for the Hyperbaric Chamber program. W. Ray said he has
utilized the program and attested to its success. The motion was seconded and
passed. A donation was made.
Welcome
to two new members; W.M. Tom McVeigh purchased a
Lifetime membership; and Tom Watson purchased a One Year membership.
Grand
Lodge will be May 31; June 1st & 2nd at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando. All
Master Masons are eligible to attend.
